Mad Staring Eyes

Mad, mad, mad staring eyes
It’s not your tongue that darts like a snake
not your knees that grumble and creak
not your knuckles that drag on the ground
It’s not your voice that croaks like a toad
Not your arms that dangle like threads
Not your elbows filed to a point
What I like about you is your
Mad, mad, mad staring eyes
It’s not your ears that move up and down
Not your nose that runs like a stream
Not your toes that point different ways
It’s not your smell that scares the dog
Not your hair that looks like weeds
Not your nails that scrape down the wall
What I like about you is your
Mad, mad, mad staring eyes

Rise up now my people
you know the time has come
Rise up now my people
time to heed the call
Rise up now my people
Come to the festival
Forward to the future
Leave the past behind
Open up your curtains
Open up your minds
Rise up now my people
Our time has just begun
